Story StepsThe “Story Steps” were designed as a memorial for the children's area of the Hillsdale Library in Portland Oregon. The tiered seating arrangement contains text and artwork that tells a story about the relationship of a mother to her children through their reading of books. Anne Storrs designed the panels for this piece that were then translated into the marquetry format. The use of a wide range of dyed veneers was used to bring attention to the imagery and invite children into the space. The text is walnut veneer cut into a maple field. Below are detail photos of some of the panels used in this piece. |
